The Division of Analytical Chemistry is soliciting potential candidates for the 2021 Division election that will be held in June. We are seeking diverse candidates to join the Executive Committee (Chair, Secretary, and Councilor) and become active volunteers within the Division. Please email kimberly@acsanalytical.org by April 30, 2021 with your interest in one of the positions:
Chair
- This is a four-year term, serving one year each as Chair-Elect, Program Chair, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair. The first year involves planning special activities and meeting program themes for the year as Chair. The second year is devoted to completing plans for the Chair year and on putting together the detailed programs for the ACS Fall and Spring National Meetings. The Chair year includes implementing these plans as well as chairing the meetings of the Division’s Executive Committee. The final year includes chairing the Nominating Committee for the Division.
- 1 vacant position – Government or Private Sector candidates only
Secretary
- This is a two-year term, with the possibility of re-election. The Secretary puts together the agendas for each Executive Committee meeting, coordinating with the Chair, prepares and publishes the minutes of each meeting, and coordinates preparation of the Division’s Annual Report to the ACS.
- 1 vacant position
Councilor
- This is a three-year term, with the possibility of re-election. The Division has four Councilors and four Alternate Councilors, the most a Division can have (based on membership). The Councilors participate in the two meetings of the ACS Council, at the spring and fall ACS National Meetings, and may serve on one of the 30+ Committees of the ACS. The Alternate Councilors attend the Council meeting if a Councilor is unable to do so.
