The chemistry of Ionic liquids has progressed over the past several years such that these liquid organic salts are employed in virtually every area of science and engineering. In regard to the area of analytical chemistry, initial applications of these salts were primarily the domain of electrochemists who desired to manipulate the properties of these solvents for such applications. Today, these liquids are used in virtually every area of analytical chemistry including, but not limited to spectroscopy, separations science, mass spectrometry, surface science, and sensors. This symposium will be designed to highlight this wide range of analytical applications, with particular emphasis on recent novel advances.
