Documents & Explanation for Vote on Proposed Bylaws
June 26 to July 26, 2023
The current bylaws of the ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry were last updated in 2011. Since that time the ACS Committee on Constitution and Bylaws (C&B) has made substantial changes to the model bylaws for Technical Divisions and requested that all Technical Divisions update their bylaws to conform with the model bylaws.
The C&B staff reviewed our current bylaws, made necessary edits and updates, and sent them back to the Division Executive Committee for review and approval.
- The proposed bylaws do not change the current organization, member roles or leadership duties away from current practice.
- The revisions made are editorially quite substantial.
- Bylaw sections were reorganized for clarity and efficiency, renamed (e.g. Dues → Finances), or expanded in scope (e.g. Officers and Executive Committee → Officers, Executive Committee, and Councilor(s)).
- Two new sections were added on the advice of C&B and approved by the EC that cover Affiliation with Other Technical Organizations and Recall of Elected Officials.
