Separation science has been the main theme of my undergraduate, graduate, and now postdoctoral research career. This path has included research utilizing multiple chromatographic methods, including one- and two-dimensional liquid and gas chromatography, as well as the development and application of data analysis tools which yield more information than traditionally available from a separation.
It would be an honor to serve on the Executive Committee for the ACS Subdivision on Chromatography and Separations Chemistry (SCSC). My primary goal in this service will be to strengthen our growing network of separation scientists, with a principal focus on connecting younger students with more established researchers from academia, government, and industry. I believe I am uniquely positioned to leverage my own recent experiences to foster meaningful connections for the next generation of chromatographers. While serving on the committee, I will work to expand programming at the ACS national meetings, connecting researchers from different backgrounds and career stages. For example, I have found both panel discussions on the range of separation science career paths and oral sessions highlighting early career researchers invaluable parts of past conferences. I look forward to helping other young scientists experience the same opportunities I have been given due to the work of the ACS SCSC.

I am fortunate to have been a member on the SCSC Executive Committee for the past six years. The Subdivision continues to be highly active, publishing highly popular LCGC print and web columns, administering the Young Investigator’s award and symposia, organizing sessions at Pittcon and ACS conferences, awarding grants to support separations science, partnering with CHROMacademy, and several more endeavors. I believe I can continue to bring a unique perspective to the board, having served in three major arenas (government, industry, and academics) during my professional career, and offer my commitment to continue to serve the Subdivision in a high-energy capacity to meet all its directives.
